DANCE WORKSHOPS
Join the members of Soukouss Internationale for an authentic, fun and energetic introduction to Congolese soukouss dance. Facilitators Quentin Thony (La Reunion) and Chabala Chalwe (Zambia) will lead participants through a simple and fun choreography suitable for all the family. Assisting Quentin and Chabala will be Patience Mwaba (Zambia) and Cynthia Chumba (Kenya).
GUITAR WORKSHOPS
Join the members of Soukouss Internationale for an introduction to Congolese rumba soukouss guitar. From the 1950’s up to the present, the Congo has a strong and distinctive guitar tradition to rival any other. Facilitators Jamie Searle and Mahamudo Selimane will give an introduction to the history and techniques of Congolese guitar music, touching on the songs of Kanda Bongo Man, OK Jazz and more.
